Selecting Materials
You have completed a ton of leg work on your project. You now have a design, a contractor or DIY plan, and you know the project goals.
Now it is time to finalize your selections. Picking the pieces that bring you and your home together is a little daunting, but so fun. These selections are what makes your home, “your home” and are the reflection of who you are.
Here are a few tips when selecting materials:
· Gather all your pieces – samples for cabinets, countertop, flooring, back splash, and paint. Do they work together cohesively? Can you imagine them flowing together on a greater scale?
· Take all the samples home and look at them in different light; morning light is different than evening light.
Once you have the selections finalized, verify lead times, or how long it will take for the materials to arrive, coordinate with your contractor and place the orders! Generally, cabinets take the longest amount of time to arrive. When your kitchen designer places the order, you should receive a ship week. Work your project plan from this date.
